SendGrid pricing in rand

As of 26 September 2026

SendGrid prices and bills in US dollars, so every South African customer carries exchange-rate risk on top of the subscription. Buzzz bills in rand at a fixed monthly price. Here's what SendGrid's published tiers convert to today, next to Buzzz's actual rand price for the same volume.

Reasons to pick Buzzz

  • Billed in rand at a fixed monthly price, with no dollar exchange-rate exposure on your email bill.
  • SMS to South African numbers is included on Pro, in the same plan as email.
  • Campaigns, automations, inbound email and an SMTP relay ship in the same plan, not a separately billed product.
  • Sends past your allowance are refused, never billed as a surprise overage.
  • We warn before we pause for deliverability problems and say why; a person answers appeals within one South African business day (a frequent SendGrid complaint on Trustpilot and Hacker News in 2026 is accounts suspended with no warning).

Reasons you might not

  • At 50,000 emails a month, SendGrid's Essentials plan (≈R325) is cheaper than Buzzz Pro (R499) if you only need transactional/API sending and don't need SMS, automations or inbound email.
  • At 100,000 emails a month, SendGrid's cheapest matching plan can still undercut Buzzz Growth (R1,299) depending on which SendGrid tier you land on (≈R325–R1,467).
  • SendGrid's free trial gives roughly 100 emails/day (≈3,000/month) for 60 days, more generous than Buzzz's permanent 1,000/month free tier, but it ends, and a paid plan follows.

Buzzz's warn-before-pause policy for sending reputation is set out in our terms of service, section 5, and reported monthly on our deliverability report.
